Iowa is a leader in agriculture not only in the United States but also around the world. As one of the largest producers of corn, eggs, pork, and soybeans or local economies depend on the success of Iowa’s farming communities and families.
As a member of the Iowa House of Representatives I have supported legislation and polices that promote and support Iowa’s small business and local economies. I believe that the as policy makers our role is to ensure that Iowa remains competitive in the worldwide marketplace, and that Iowa is full of opportunity for all Iowans. My keys goals are to:
Rural Iowa has seen a significant decreases in rural healthcare access in recent years. I have always and will always fight to make sure all Iowans has access to quality healthcare.
Iowa continues to be a leader in the education of both our public and private school students. In 2023, I supported legislation that gave teachers the largest single year pay raise in Iowa’s history, with all new teachers earning at least $50k in their first year and all para educators in Iowa earning a minimum of $15 per hour.
As a legislator I will continue to work to improve access to education for Iowa students by supporting the expansion of Iowa education transportation programs, and I will continue to push for future support of parents and teachers who working tirelessly everyday educations our students.
As a legislator I believe in three key fiscal policy commitments:
I am committed to protecting and developing Iowa natural resources in a sustainable and environmentally conscious manner.
As an avid hunter and outdoorsman, I cherish the memories I’ve created with my family and I want to make sure future generations of Iowans have the same opportunities.
As a veteran of the United State Navy, I understand the need to takes care of Iowa’s veterans and their families. In 2023 I filed HF 2505 that was a comprehensive piece of legislation that provide millions of dollars of support for veterans and their families.
First, it provided immediate property tax relief for disabled veterans.
Second, it gave veterans and their families an opportunity to attend Iowa’s Universities at little to no cost.
Lastly, it prioritized our Iowa veterans by giving them preference in state employment
opportunities, judicial proceedings, mental health resources, and other state benefits at little or no cost.
